WOOL IN DEMAND AT AUCKLAND

(New Zealand Press Association; AUCKLAND, June 18. There was keen competition within defined price limits at the Auckland wool sale today, says the official report.

The wool-selling season concluded with the submitting of 30,200 bales to auction. Of this total 27,000 bales were entered by growers and 3200 came from the Wool Commission stocks in Auckland. The new season's wool was substantially second shear, with occasional lots of fulllength ewe fleece and of hogget wool. This offering generally was well prepared, of good colour and high yielding. It was longer in staple than the Shear offering last month but some late shorn lines showed the effects of the recent adverse weather. The market opened generally firm on the sale last

week in Napier but later in the day prices eased somewhat and the sale closed in buyers’ favour.

A total clearance of the Wool Commission offering was achieved at prices which compared favourably with those paid for the current clip.
