REVENGE ON CENSORS
Film Director Rushes Job (N.Z. Press Assn — Copyright) MELBOURNE, June 9. The Swedish film director, Stig Bjorkman, is shooting a hard-hitting satirical feature to pay back the Australian censors. Mr Bjorkman began work today on “To Australia With Love,” which, he said, would be a “satire on Australian customs and morals.” He said he hoped to show the film at the Sydney and Melbourne film festivals. Last week the Australian Minister for Customs (Senator Malcolm Scott), banned a bed scene from Mr Bjorkman's “I Love, You Love,” the official Swedish entry for the Sydney and Melbourne festivals. Mr Bjorkman withdrew the film in protest. Four Melbourne actors and actresses have given their services free for “To Australia With Love,” which Mr Bjorkman said would last about eight minutes. Mr Bjorkman said that he hoped the censors would pass the film in time for the festivals.
Half the shooting would be outdoors in a “typical” urban street and indoor scenes would represent a suburban home, he said.
