SALARY: Initially $A.7446 per annum progressing to $A.7655 per annum after one year’s satisfactory service DUTIES: Under the general direction of the Engineer for Major Sewerage Design to be responsible for: (1) As a specialist in the field of hydraulic or structural engineering, tendering advice and submitting recommendations relating to hydraulic or structural matters; (2) Revision and development of hydraulic or structural design standards for reasons of economy and uniformity both in the works designed by the Branch and in design effort; (3) The detail design of components of unusual difficulty and complexity, and/or which require a high degree of originality, judgment and professional training; (4) Continuous evaluation of new developments in hydraulic or structural engineering in relation to the work of the Branch; and (5) Undertaking such other duties as may be directed. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must: (a) Hold Civil Engineering qualifications at least equal to those required for Corporate Membership of The Institution of Engineers, Australia, or equivalent or higher qualification, and (b) Have had substantial design experience appropriate to the duties, displayed mature judgment and possess the ability to develop solutions to new problems from first principles. Reasonable removal expenses for family and personal effects will be met by the Board and provision can be made for temporary accommodation in Melbourne if required.
