Wilson Sees T.U.C. Chief
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, June 10. The British Prime Minister ■ (Mr Harold Wilson) is reported to have given an ultimatum to the nation’s trade union leaders yesterday on wild-cat strikes, an issue which threatens to divide the Labour Government from the traditional base of its political support, the Trades Union Congress. Qualified sources say Mr Wilson presented his ultimatum to T.U.C. leaders during a 90-minute meeting at No. 10 Downing Street, where he told them firmly that the T.U.C. would have to stiffen its own
voluntary programme for dealing with such strikes, or the Government would go ahead with its proposed strike-control law, which includes the imposition of fines on offenders. Mr Wilson and the T.U.C. leaders, who represent nine million British workers, agreed to meet again, probably on Wednesday. In the meantime, the T.U.C. will consult its member-unions, and Mr Wilson will have talks with his Cabinet.'
