The Canterbury men’s basketball team failed to qualify for the New Zealand championship final In the South Island tournament at Dunedin last week-end but it will still have a chance to meet the top North Island sides before it competes in the national invitation tournament at Tauranga in August. It has been invited to attend a special tournament at Palmerston North on
July 25 and 26. As well as Palmerston North, it will play against Auckland and Wellington, Unfortunately, Christchurch followers might not have a chance to see the team in action. Not one representative match is scheduled for Christchurch this season, although a provincial side might be invited to take part in a live telecast match on August
