Parliament’s Diary

The Fisheries Amendment Bill and the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Amendment Bill were each introduced and read a first time when Parliament resumed yesterday afternoon.

Sixteen select committees were set up. Three Government members gave notice of motions on defence matters.

Ministers answered 23 questions. The-annual report of the National Patriotic Fund Board was tabled.

Two petitions were presented. One, signed by 136 Rotorua citizens, asked for the Food and Drug Bill not to be proceeded with; the other, signed by 1139 North Otago residents, appealed for the cessation of the war on Biafra.

During the afternoon, argument was heard on the Kennedy Park Motel Trust Bill. It was incomplete when the House adjourned for dinner.

Last night the Address-in-Reply debate was resumed.
