Preakness To Favourite

(N. Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright)

BALTIMORE. Majestic Prince, the favourite, won the ninety-fourth running of the Preakness Stakes. Arts And Letters was second and Jay Ray was third. Majestic Prince’s win in the 9U5182,000 event was his ninth in succession.

Shortly after the finish of the race, an objection was lodged against Majestic Prince by B. Baeza, who rode Arts And Letters, but this was dismissed.

Majestic Prince, ridden by W. Hartack, covered the 9i furlongs in Imin 55.65ec, compared with the race record of Imin 54.65ec. The race is the second in the triple crown for three-year-olds. The others are the Kentucky Derby, won by Majestic Prince two weeks ago, and the Belmont Stakes, over one mile and a half.
