Accountant Guilty On Five Charges

AUCKLAND, May 15.

Mrs Maureen Long, a former accountant with an Auckland law firm, was found guilty of five charges by a jury in the Supreme Court at Auckland yesterday. *

Mrs Long, aged 32, was found guilty of a charge of concealing a partly executed mortgage document for fraudulent purposes between December 2, 1965, and December 11,1968, a charge that on or about May 23, 1967, being a servant of McElroy, Duncan and Preddle, she made a false entry in a trust ledger, two charges of making false entries in letters to Mrs S. C. Mullan, and one of mak-

ing a false entry in a receipt book.

On t.® direction of Mr Justice Richmond, the jury acquitted Mrs Long on two further charges of making false entries in letters to Mrs Mullan. The jury took two hours to reach its, verdict. His Honour remanded Mrs Long in custody for sentence. Mr J. G. Jamieson appeared for Mrs Long and Mr C. M. Nicholson represented the Crown.
