ADVICE TO BOARD
Scientific Panel Appointed The following have been appointed as the scentific advisory panel of the Arthur’s Pass National Park Board: Mr G. Warren (Geological Survey, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research), Dr N. Moar (Botany Division, D.5.1.R.), Mr K. Duncan (zoology department, University of Canterbury), Mr E. Cutler (soil science department, Lincoln College), Mr A. Ryan (Meteorological Service), Dr C. -J. Burrows (bbard member), and Mr P. Croft (park chief ranger). Membership of the panel was announced at a meeting of the park board in Christchurch yesterday. The chairman (Mr M. J. Fitzgerald) said that all the invitations sent to the proposed members of the panel had been accepted. They had been told that the board hoped the panel would elect its own chairman and determine its own order of reference. “The panel will be asked to advise the board on scientific matters and make appropriate recommendations. It has been suggested that the inaugural meeting be held in Christchurch and that subsequent meetings and field days be fixed at the panel’s will."
