Vegetable And Fruit Prices

Although supplies were ample, the demand for many vegetables fell at the Christchurch produce markets on Monday. Sprouts sold at $3.20 to $4, a drop of 55c from last weeks price of $4.20 to $4.55 a case. Parsnips and cabbages sold at prices 20c cheaper than last week. Spinach fell from up to $1.60 a case last week, to $1 to $1.45 a case this week. Fruit sold at higher prices. Grapes rose 12c from last weeks price of 40c to 60c a pound, and tamarillos rose 30c. selling at up to $3.20 a case. Fresh supplies of bananas from Ecuador arrived yesterday.
