Further Racing Unlikely \ “The Press” Special Service INVERCARGILL. Any hopes of Holy Hal standing up to another preparation have been virtually dashed, according to his Edendale partowner. Mr D. Keenan. “It looks a bit like curtains this time,” Mr Keenan/said yesterday. f The Hal Tryax horse resumed light work about a month ago, but he has had a recurrence of soreness. Although he is back in light work again, it is unlikely that he will race again. Mr Keenan and the Mataura trainer, D. Todd, have been fighting an uphill battle with Holy Hal qince he went amiss on an Australian campaign two years ago. The horse underwent a preparation for the Inter-Dominion Championships in Auckland last year, winning the Wellington Cup and running second to First Lee in the Grand Final. New Secretary Appointed “The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. The Auckland Trotting Club has appointed Mr J. F. Patterson to succeed Mr J. W. Fair as secretary of the club. Mr Patterson will take up his duties on June 1. Mr Fair last week was appointed secretary of the Brisbane Amateur Turf Club. Mr Patterson, who is 26, has been assistant secretary’ of the club for 18 months. He has been on the club’s office staff for 10 years.
