SECRETARY 43 YEARS
Mr J. B. Nicoll Honoured
A complimentary dinner in honour of Mr J. B. Nicol], who has been secretary of the Ashburton County Racing Club for the last 43 years, was held by the club at the Somerset Hotel, this week. Mr Nicoll is the longest-serving racing club secretary in New Zealand.
The function was attended by a gathering of about 30, i comprising committee mem- - bers (including stewards) and their wives.
The club’s president (Mr W. R. Lemon) made a presen-j tation of a landscape painting! of Mount Cook to Mr Nicoll,; and spoke in appreciation ofhis long and outstanding ser- 1 vice to the club, and to rac-j ing. Mr Nicoll, who is well into his forty-fourth year of office, - was appointed the club’s sec-: retary m April 1, 1926. !'
