Bellamour Likely Winner At Poverty Bay Today

"The Press” Special Service

GISBORNE.

If the Wairoa mare, Bellamour, can show something like the form she produced in winning the Goodbehere Handicap at Feilding at Easter, she should be too good for her opponents in the Gisborne Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double, oh the final day of the Poverty Bay meeting today.

Bellamour ran sixth in the Te Mahanga Handicap at Hastings a few weeks ago and has had time to freshen. She will be ridden by R. J. Skeleton, who also has the mount f on the Hastings galloper, - Chill in the second leg, the j Members’ Handicap. ■ On Saturday, Chill ran on ; strong for over six furlongs, and should be hard to i beat over the extra furlong f today. J Besides Bellamour, the first i leg field includes the firstday winner. Mr Charlie and i the hack graduate True Allen, ; which will be trying to better : a long string of seconds in

! the lower grade. Sunvelley Mist and Meum disputed the finish of the Midway Handicap on the first day, Meum winning narrowly. They should be hardest for Chill to beat today. The track is expected to- be fast, but lacking sting. Selections:— 1 Selections: 11.30 a.m.—Hexton Hack Hurdles: Sea Boots, Falrjrlore. i Lord Snowden.
