Obituary MISS M. AD AMS
Miss Mary Annil Adams, the second daughter of the late Mr Luke Adams, a pio-' neer in the New Zealand pottery industry, died re-1 cently. She was 94. Miss Adams attended the Opawa School from 1880 to 1882 and the Sydenham School for the next seven years.
In 1889, she gained a scholarship to the Christchurch Girls’ High School, and became a pupil-teacher in 1893. She entered the Teachers’ Training Normal School in 1897, following this with service at country schools—Le Bons Bay. Little Akaloa and Kaikoura suburban. Miss Adams was appointed infant mistress at Sydenham School in 1902, and became the first infant mistress of the Somerfield School when it opened in 1911.
Before her retirement in 1932, she was infant mistress '* of the Waltham School for 10 years.
An active member of, and worker for, St Saviour’s Church, Sydenham, from 1882 until her death, Miss Adams was superintendt of the Sunday School for 45 years. She resigned in 1949.
