The Australian professional tennis player, F. Stolle, will assist West Germany in its preparations for the second round Davis Cup match against Sweden later this month, United Press International reported.
The West German Tennis Federation said it had hired Stolle last week-end to act as a "sparring partner” for the Davis Cup players W. Bungert, C. Kuhnke and I. Buding. The West German team beat New Zealand 4-1 in the first round at the week-end. “But the match against Sweden will certainly be much mote difficult,” a federation spokesman said. “We
decided to hire Stolle to help I whip our team into the best possible shape.” The match against Sweden is scheduled for May 23 to 25 in a Swedish city yet to be selected. Brazil won through to the south section final of the American zone of the Davis Cup when it defeated Colombia 3-2 in the second round of the section competition in Bogota, Colombia, Reuter reported. Each team won one of the last two singles matches in i the tie. T. Koch (Brazil) beat i W. Alvarez 6-2, 7-5, 6-2 and I J. Velasco scored a Colom- I bian victory by defeating E. Mandarine, 6-2, 6-1, 6-3. In Maribor, Jugoslavia beat I France 3-2 in the last European zone first round match. I It will now meet Spain in the i second round.
F. Goven (France) beat N. Spear 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 to make it
112-2 but Z. Franulovic (Jugoslavia) beat F. Jauffrett 6-3, |6-3, 6-3, in the last singles.
