BLANTYRE, May 12.
President Kamuzu Banda, of Malawi, said today that countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand had no right to attack the white minority regimes of Southern Africa because they were themselves ruled by settlers. “Those powers that are themselves settlers must not adopt the attitude of holier than thou,” he said. “Who are the real Americans? American Indians. Are American Indians in power now?” Likewise in Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and even in the West Indies, the present rulers were not the original inhabitants. Dr Banda said. “In my view the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand have no right to point the finger at South Africa, Mozambique and Rhodesia.”
