PORTUGUESE TO TOUR
One of the world’s greatest soccer players may be coming to New Zealand this sehson.
He is the 27-year-old Eusebio Ferreira, originally from Mozambique and internationally known only by his Christian name.
Eusebio is a member of the' Benfica club of Portugal, one of the 10 leading teams in Europe, which is on the list of possible tourists this season.
Benfica is planning a tour of Portugal's colonies in Africa and has requested to play matches in Australia. The Australian Soccer Confederation has cabled acceptance of three games.
Should this arrangement be satisfactory, the New Zealand Football Association will seek to have Benfica play at least one game in New Zealand.
Benfica has won the European Champions’ Cup four times and provides the nucleus of the national team.
