S.I. LEAGUE TEAM
Test Players Eligible
Any South Island players included in the New Zealand Rugby League team U play Australia in the first test at Auckland on June 1 will be eligible for the island team to play the tourists at Christchurch the following day. The convener of the New Zealand selection panel (Mr D. L. Blanchard) said yesterday that the South Island team would be announced after the inter-zone match at Auckland on Saturday. Besides naming the New Zealand test team, the selectors will also announce the North Island Colts’ team to play Australia in the opening match of the tour on May 28.
The southern zone players will meet in Christchurch on Thursday. They will train here on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, and will fly to Auckland on Friday afternoon.
