Immorality Charge

A South African Indian pop singer, Subramoney Anandhan, and a white girl were given a nine-month suspended prison sentence today for contravening the Immorality Act, which bans sexual intercourse between whites and non-whites.
A police detective told the court that he found Anandhan, who is 28 and known professionally as Tiny Dee, in his underclothing on a bed with Elizabeth Joan Fourie, aged 19, at a farm on March 14. The girl, who was naked, said she had' taken off her clothes to wash them.
The sentence was suspended for three years.
