RISE IN PRICE

The wholesale price of bulk confectionery had been Increased in the main by 1c per lb, said the managing director of Aulsebrook and Company, Ltd (Mr R. G. Pearce) yesterday. Increases in the cost of packaging materials especially had caused the company to change its popular 10c bags of confectionery to 15c bags, he said.

Mr Pearce said that the weight of confectionery in the 15c bags would be 50 per cent greater than they were in the 10c bags. The consumer would get the same value for his money. “This saving of packaging costs has enabled the company to maintain its prices in that line,” he said. The company had been left with no option but to raise some of its prices because of a rise in the prices of coeoa beans, cocoa butter, sugar and packaging materials, he said.
