NO OMEGA REPLY
The three members of the physics department of the University of Canterbury who had been offered space in “The Press” today tb reply to Mr Nicholas Turner on the Omega dispute have decided not to continue their debate in the columns of “The Press.”
A statement yesterday from the three men (Dr D. R. Hutton. Mr G. L. Austin, and Mr P. A. G. Howell) reads as follows: “We have examined Mr Turner’s criticisms at length and have prepared a point-by-point refutation which we should be happy to make available to persons interested in the details.
“We disagree entirely with Mr Turner’s interpretation of the documents referred to and consider that any further discussion in “The Press’ would serve no useful purpose with regard to the matter.”
