Milk Deliveries
Sir,—Your story of milkmoney thefts in today’s paper made me laugh. “People did not like paying for their milk twice,” said a vendor. (Why. should they?) “If only everyone would use tokens we could get rid of all this," said the president of the Canterbury. Milk Vendors' Association. May I remind these gentlemen that before the days of zoning—a war-time measure foisted on the public as a patriotic sacrifice in order to save petrol—milkmen delivered milk to the back door. On television programmes I have observed white-coated milkmen delivering the milk into the household refrigerator. This would be another way of stopping milk-money thefts. Apparently the milk vendors have not considered that one.— Yours, etc., SERVICE, PLEASE. May 12, 1969.
