Seven of the major bodies have part or full time Directors and can offer limited help to smaller nearby Councils. The main work of the Councils is concerned with education within schools, pre-marriage courses, Counselling services, Court conciliation (which will increase) and administration. Some Councils may only handle a few of these facets. General policy, laid down by the National Council at its Annual Conference, is implemented by the National Executive centred in Wellington and two professional subcommittees on counselling and Education. DUTIES: (a) To assist and co-ordinate the work at local councils —especially in the maintenance of first-class standards of work. This will involve periodic visits to councils and some travelling. (b) To act as a channel of communication between the national bodies, local councils and local directors. (c) To administer the work of the National bodies including the organisation of various seminars and of the annual conference. (d) To speak to other organisations and clubs as necessary.
