RUAKURA STAFF
Further Loss Reported
(N.Z. press Association)
HAMILTON, May l|.
Ruakura was continuing to lose more scientists than it could afford to overseas research institutes and organisations, said Dr D. G. Edgar, director of the Ruakura Animal Research Station, when commenting today on the resignations of further key staff. The latest resignation, said Dr Edgar, was that of Dr R. H. Khouri, who was leaving to take up a post with the World Bank. He would be difficult to replace. His work on calf rearing had been providing some valuable information for the farming industry. Before coming to Ruakura three years and a half ago, Dr Khouri was at Massey University. He was educated in the United States and the Lebanon.
Dr Khouri said today that he had a number of reasons for leaving Ruakura. These included a definite professional advancement, a chance to see more people and more of the world, and the opportunity to visit relatives overseas. There would also -be an improvement to his income.
