Exclusion From Meeting
Sir, —In his statement in “The Press” on Saturday. Mr P. V. Neary, publicity officer for the Christchurch branch of the Clean Air Society says, in effect, that he was invited by the Hornby Progress League to speak at a meeting at which 10 complainants were invited to meet representatives of the Paparua County Council, the Department of Health and the Company to discuss the problems caused by Kempthorne and Prosser’s chemical fertiliser factory, at Hornby. Mr Neary’s attack on the council for excluding him from the meeting is most unfair. As an outsider his knowledge of the district is severely limited as evidenced by the fact that there is no such body as the Hornby Progress League.—Yours, etc., A COMPLAINANT.
May 10, 1969. [The "Hornby Progress League” referred to by Mr Neary is in fact the Hornby Residents’ Association.—Ed., “The Press.”]
