Canterbury Has Five In Soccer Trial

(New Zealand Press Association)

WELLINGTON.

Five Canterbury players have been named in the teams for the final New Zealand soccer trial at Wellington on Sunday, two of them in the reserves.

They are K. France, D. Phillips, G. Davies, O. Nuttridge, and A. Gowans. Because air services to Wellington were disrupted yesterday the match between the Central League and Northern League, which was considered a New Zealand trial, was cancelled. With the airport closed, the Northern League team could not get to Wellington on its scheduled morning flight. A spokesman for the New Zealand Football Association said the match would now probably not be played till the end of the season. The teams announced last night in Wellington by Mr J. Cowie, chairman of the New Zealand Football Association, are:—

(Northern), D. Wallace (Central, captain), A. Milne (Central), S. Boyland (Central). D. Taylor (Northern), P. Breslin (Central), S. Bruce (Central).

Probables: D. Phillips (Southern). G. Davis (Southern), T. McNab (Northern, captain), J. Staines (Northern), W. Hunter (Northern), T. Francis (Central), G. Bilby (Central), R. Mears (Northern), M. Guildea (Northern), E. Thomas (Northern), J. Legg (Northern).

The reserves for both teams are:—D. Nuttridge (Southern), D. Mack (Northern), B. Duncan (Southern), R. Neilson (Southern), A. Gowans (Southern), I. Sim (Central), M. Bland (Central), W. de Graaf (Northern).-

Mr Cowie said that although P. Whiting (Central) had not been selected for the final trial because of injury, he would be considered when the New Zealand squad to play the touring English F.A. side was selected

Possibles: L. Cutler (Central League), A. Jeffery (Central), K. France (Southern). M. Ferguson (Southern). C. Latimour
