17 Trialists Chosen
The Canterbury senior women’s basketball selectors (Mrs R. Southam, Mrs C. Shanahan and Miss C. Brown) have chosen 17 trialists for the Canterbury team to play Australia at Canterbury Court on July 2. All the trialists are experienced senior players. The selectors said that although there were many promising younger players, they had not been chosen in order that they might be free for selection in the junior team.
The senior team will be announced soon after Queen’s Birthday week-end.
The trialists are: C. McMaster, C. Cottrell, L. Dawson, M. Hanson, A. Ogilvey (Hagley A), J. Blair. M. Simionidis, L. Morris, C. Matoe, C. Tainui (New Brighton), J. Harnett, A. Cooper, K. O’Reilly (Sacred Heart), S. Langrope. S. Norman, S. Rogers (Technical), J. Eddie (Teachers’ College).
