Unsolvable Crime
Even if New Zealand had Sexton Blake, Sherlock Holmes and company “on the job”, many crimes and offences would remain unsolved, according to the Commissioner of Police (Mr G. C. Urquhart). Mr Urquhart was speaking at a press conference in Timaru before he addressed a Timaru Police District staff meeting. In many cases crimes and offences were virtually unsolvable, he said. Many were not discovered or reported early enough, while others provided insufficient evidence on which to work.—(P.A.)
