OVERSEAS SALES
SYDNEY Once again falls outnumbered rises on all markets on the Sydney Stock Exchange yesterday. Oils were treated more gently than of late. B.H.P. attracted buyers and managed a minor recovery to close at 1620. Among the miners, Vam, Surveys and Mid-East Minerals traded strongly. Mid-Eastern fluctuated between 88c to 08c before closing at 97c. Mount Isa continued to hold attention but could not repeat Thursday’s high of 1000 c; they closed at 050 c, a rise of 10c. MELBOURNE The mining and oH section on the Melbourne Stock Exchange showed signs of steadying as a week Of severe shake out ended, although falls still outnumbered rises. About one fourth of sales werd ■steady. Market leader 8.H.P.. after bottoming at 1580. found buying support and closed at 1610 for a rise on the day of 15c, with buyers still in the market at the close. Mount Isa put on a further 14c to close at 954. and there was also support for Hamersley, which gained 30c to 1160. Among golds, Lake View and Star put on 30c to close the week at 400. Other gold stocks to flrm on renewed fears of currency instability were Gold Mines of Kalgoorlie, up 10c, Great Boulder, up 10c to 860 and Emperor, up 5c to 345 Balos.— Ampol, 319; Ansett, 86; Aust.
