Mercer Profit Up Slightly
J. Mercer Industries, Ltd, Christchurch sheetmetal maker, lifed its profit $3366 to $73,614 for the year to February 28. After providing $6105 less for depreciation at $36316 and $lO5O more for tax at $66,500. The earning rate on the steady $240,000 ordinary capital rises from 25.1 to 28.0 per cent The steady 11 per cent ordinary divided, phis the 6f per cent preference payment take a total of $36,275, and the amount carried forward is raised by $40,240 to $444353. The chairman (Mr J. Mercer) said the company followed its diversification policy during the year.
