Basketball Tournament
The first South Island girls' Indoor basketball tournament will be held at Cowles Stadium on Tuesday. Kight teams from Christchurch, Nelson, Dunedin and Manapouri will be competing. The finals are to be played on Friday evnlng. Waimea College. Nelson, will provide the strongest outside competition to the Canterbury .team. Malrehau High School, which has been winning its competition games by big margins this season. The Dunedin contingent of St Philomena's College, Bayfield High School and Taleri High School should be strong, for last season the province won the New Zealand undor-18 championship. It Is hoped that the winners nt this tournament will be able to challenge the best in ths North Island when the North Island championships are held in Rotorua in August.
