FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression north-east of the Chatham Islands is moving away, and an anticyclone is advancing slowly across the Tasman Sea. Forecast:
Canterbury.—Winds mostly moderate and variable, but south-westerlies may freshen temporarily on exposed parts of the coast; cloud becoming less extensive during the day; cool about the coast but moderate afternoon temperatures linland. Coastal areas of Marlborough.—Northwesterlies developing and becoming fresh locally in the afternoon; some cloudy areas but mostly fine and cool. Buller and Westland.—Moderate variable winds, south-westerlies predominating; cloud increasing; a few rain areas developing, chiefly on the ranges; rather cool. Inland Marlborough and Nelson.—Southwest winds, fresh at times; a few showers on the ranges; otherwise fine and cool. Outlook: showers in Buller and Westland; elsewhere fair, but a few showers later.
