De Gaulle Goes Out
General de Gaulle yesterday left his country retreat for the first time in 10 days to go for a 50-mile drive with his wife. The former French President, who went into political exile on April 28, was reported looking rested and relaxed. The couple were accompanied in a separate car by an aide de camp, a bodyguard, and a police inspector. A 12-man police guard barred the way when they set off to prevent a lone press photographer from following. Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises, May 8.
