AUSTRALIAN MARKET
The sales of Ford vehicles in Australia reached a record 85,197 last year. Total vehicle registrations throughout Australia were 449,000, Ford taking 19 per cent of the market—down 1.2 per cent on 1967—while General Motors had 34.4 per cent of the'market, the same as in 1967.
Chrysler, 8.M.C., and Volkswagen all lost ground as regards their share of the market, the losses all being' to the credit of Japanese models, which accounted for 13.7 per cent of new registrations —higher than either B.M.C. or Chrysler, and much higher than Volkswagen.
