RANSOM OF DOOR
$lOO Offered By Mayor (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 8. The Mayor of Auckland (Mr D. M. Robinson) has offered to give the Auckland University Students’ Association charity appeal a cheque for $lOO if the students return the door to his office by tomorrow morning. Four students, wearing overalls, removed the door from the office on the fifteenth floor of the Civic Administration Building yesterday. The Mayor said the cheque would not be so much a ransom payment as recognition of the students’ appeal. The City Council refused to allow a student collection on streets today, but they operated in shop doorways.
