Kick Hastens Retirement
(N.Z. Press Association)' HAMILTON. The kick in the back which caused him to leave the field during a club game on April 26, has hastened the retirement of the former Waikato Rugby captain, D. R. Wood. Announcing this yesterday, Wood said an X-ray revealed two broken vertebrae and a doctor had told him he could not play for at least six or eight weeks. ‘T had intended that this should be my last season, so the only thing to do is to finish now,” Wood added.
