Blenheim Man Guilty Of Theft From Bank

BLENHEIM, May 7. Michael Robert O’Sullivan, aged 24, a contractor, of Blenheim, was remanded to tomorrow morning for sentence when he was found, guilty this afternoon of stealing $9OO frpm the Blenheim branch of the Bank of New Zealand.
Before Mr J. W. P. Watts, S.M., in the Blenheim Magistrate's Court O’Sullivan pleaded not guilty. He was represented by Mr R. E. 'Avery, O’Sullivan had been overpaid by $9OO when he presented a cheque for slB’ on the morning of April 16. Questioned by tiie police later, he denied the offence, said Detective E. L. McLachlan. A. S. Morriss, the tellet.'and the accountant, ,Mr R. A. Havill. Mrs'Morriss said she had given O’Sullivan 20 one-dollar notes, jwo 20-dollar notes, and two 10-dollar' notes to make up the $BO and had then given him 100 10-dollaf notes instead of 10. ! She had realised her mistake almost immediately and had rushed from the bank to see if O’Sullivan was still around. When she could not find him she had told. Mr Havill.
