P.D.L Reorganises For Expansion

Uriwin Industries, Ltd, the Christchurch electrical group taken over last year by the Christchurch P.DJL. group of companies, had been satisfactorily absorbed in the group, the managing director of P.D.L. (Mr R. H. Stewart) announced yesterday.

Uriwin Industries had been reorganised, Mr Stewart said, and formed into two companies. The manufacturing section was now named U.I.L. Industries, Ltd, and the sales section of 10 branches throughout New Zealand had become a separate unit to be known as U.I.L. Sales, Ltd. Both companies have headquarters at Waltham. The P.D.L. group has also acquired Modern Packaging, Ltd, of Wellington, and its plant and equipment have been transferred to U.LL. Industries.

Mr G. Day, previously sales manager for P.DX. Industries, Ltd, has been appointed general manager. U.I.L. Sales, Ltd, and Mr C. Bailey, the owner of Modern Packaging, now fills the position of general manager, U.LL. Industries, Ltd. Mr Stewart also announced the formation of the P.D.L. Group management board.

This comprises Mr R. H. Stewart chairman and managing' director, P.D.L. group of companies; Mr R. J. Stewart general manager P.D.L. Industries, Ltd; Mr A. C. Caldow, general manager Rosmak Industries, Ltd; Mr K. McClay, general manager Skope Enterprises, Ltd; Mr G. Day, general manager U.LL. Sales, Ltd; Mr C. J. Bailey, general manager U.I.L. Industries, Ltd; Mr I. R. W. Methven, group secretary and accountant.

Substantial plans were in hand to extend the range of electrical, plastic, hardware and other products within the group, and additional plant was being installed particularly for export markets, Mr Stewart said. '
