$97,000 BID REFUSED
A commercial property at 145 Worcester Street was passed in at $97,000 at public auction yesterday. The property is a two-storey brick building with 4000 square feet on each floor and was offered for sale on behalf of the S.I.M.U. Mutual Insurance Association, which is shortly to move to a new building in Latimer Square. The land contains 16 perches and the Government valuation is $85,000. A large two-storey house in Latimer Square was passed in at $40,000. The house which is at present used by the Government Child Health Clinic contains six bedrooms and stands upon a section of 40 perches. The Government valuation is $42,500.
Both properties were Differed for sale by Ford and Hadfield, Ltd, and the auctioneer in both cases was Mr D. O. Chapman. A property in Wilsons Road, St Martins, was passed in at $6200. There is a twobedroomed bungalow which stands on a section of 36 perches and the Government valuation is $5150. The property was offered for sale by Smiths City Market, Ltd, on behalf of an estate and the auctioneer was Mr R. A. C. Smith.
