Shooting List
Sir,—A recent brief report from the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society stated that bag limits for the coming season would be the same as last year. Lack of detail concerning the target species would seem to indicate that the society is ashamed to announce that pukeko are again to be shot by licence-holders. The continued persecution of this attractive native bird by drives of shooters cannot be justified in the eyes of the public and this is obviously the reason for the nondisclosure.—Yours, etc.
