PARKING AT HOSPITAL
“Get Tough” Policy
A “get tough” policy on unauthorised car parking in the Christchurch Hospital premises was agreed to yesterday by the North Canterbury Hospital Board. Because of the growing problem caused by unauthorised parking, the board decided to invoke its own relevant by-laws and prosecute persistent offenders. Mr J. B. Hay suggested that the board retain the services of a towing firm, authorising it to tow away cars that were not entitled to be parked on the premises. He said the owners would then have to pay the towing fee before they could collect their cars. This would cost the owner about $lO, said Mr C. F. Whitty. The board took no action on this suggestion.
