(N .Z.P.A.-Neuter—Copyright) LONDON. The county Sunday league, English cricket’s new one-day competition, was given a sparkling send-off with lively batting performances in nearly all eight matches. Kent led the way, rushing to 211 runs for six in its allotted 40 overs. It then dismissed Hampshire for 141 to collect the maximum four points. More than 20,000 persons watched the eight games, an encouraging sign for English cricket which has been losing support in recent years. Results:— At Lord's: Middlesex 137/8 dec.. Yorkshire 94 (D. Wilson 48). At Weston-super-Mare: Somerset 92 (C. Spencer 5/13), Leicestershire 98/5 (B. Langford 3/10). At Bristol: Warwickshire 149/ 9 dec.. Gloucestershire 90 (K. Ibadulla 4/13). At Chelmsford: Essex 18S/9 (B. Edmeades 45, S. Turner 48). Nottinghamshire 148 (M. Harris 84). At Canterbury: Kent 211/8 (A. Knott 89. Asif Iqbal SO), Hampshire 141 (D. Livingstone 58, D. Underwood 4/28). At the Oval: Surrey 147/8, Worcestershire 142 (T. Graveney 45). At Hove: Sussex 158 (J. Parks 70), Lancashire 159/5 (C. Lloyd 59). . At Northampton: Glamorgan 139/8 (J. Latter 4/34), Northamptonshire 132 (C. Milburn 44, D. Shepherd 5/31). Start delayed, each innings was 23 overs.
