The chairman of the Totallsator Agency Board (Mr B. A. Whyte) said yesterday that surveys conducted by the board at tbe agencies showed that the volume of betting taken on the day before race days and the number of dividends collected on tbe day after tbe meetings did not lustily tbe expense of retaining the present hours. The amended hours will vary from agency to agency. They had been framed to best meet the requirements of the public in particular areas and the board was confident that offcourse betters would not be inconvenienced by the reduction in business hours, he said. The existing hours now observed in the 25 city branches throughout the counfry WHI not be affected, said Mr Whyte.
