Demolition Records
The Regional Planning Authority will ask local councils to supply information about the demolition of buildings so that statistics can be compiled. The authority wants information about demolition so as to know what changes are occurring in new buildings and the removal of buildings which affect land potential and property values. The authority has already ascertained that records of demolitions are kept by some authorities by requiring the issue of permits and recording that the work has been done; using electrical supply authority records of disconnections; or using Valuation Department records. The authority suggests that it act as a central agency for compiling annual statistics from information supplied by councils as it already does with building permits.
