Fire Goes To Firemen

With the alarm still sounding in their ears after they had been woken early yesterday' morning, headquarters firemen attended a fire right outside their own station in Oxford Terrace. A fire broke out in a twoton launch at Kaikoura as it was being towed south. This was extinguished but it began again soon after arrival in Christchurch.

The owner, Mr M. Hogan, of 33 Bunyan Street, drove to the headquarters station and gave the alarm about 2.50 a.m. An extinguisher was used to put the fire out.

Because of concern about a loose line in the launch’s fuel system, a brigade escorted the launch to its destination.
