Man Badly Injured
When a car and a truck collided on the Main South Road, about 70 yards from Church Corner, about 2.59 p.m. yesterday, the driver, Patrick Slattery, aged 73, of 33 Yaldhurst Road, suffered severe chest and abdominal injuries.
He was admitted to Christchurch Hospital where his condition last evening was fair.
His wife, Mrs Honora Slattery, who suffered an arm injury, was treated and discharged.
The car was extensively damaged. Two children were Injured in road accidents.
A boy, Ramon Hampstead Bennett, of 39 Montreal Street, suffered head injuries when a car struck him at the corner of Bourke Street and Montreal Street about 8.50 a.m. He suffered head injuries.
Angela Rollinson, aged three, of 7 Price Place, suffered head and leg injuries, when she fell from a moving car in Worcester Street about 1.15 p.m. They were admitted to Christchurch Hospital where their condition last evening was satisfactory.
