200 miles to play
The return to Christchurch A grade inter-club competition by the former Canterbury men’s basketball captain, P. Rom (YJH.CA.), is most welcome but it must be tinged with regret that he will not be available for the representative team this season. Rom is now living in Timaru and originally intended to play all bis bas-
ketball there. However, he missed the high standard of club basketball he was used to In Christchurch and decided that a round trip of 200 miles every week-end was not too great an obstacle to overcome.
His presence In the Y.M.C.A. team will give it the experience that It obviously lacked In its earlier games.
Ross is fortunate to have obtained a clearance from South Canterbury, which would have profited by having a player of his calibre appearing regularly in Its weekly competitions. He Is free to play for the Canterbury representative team but does not have the time this season.
