50 miles on track
The New Brighton 50, which has been New Zealand's longest single stage running race since its inception in 1962, has a rival. The Auckland Marathon Runners' Club is holding a 50-mlle race next Saturday on the allweather Lovelock track at Owalraka.
The decision to hold the race on the track rather than on the road was made because of the traffic hazard In Auckland. The elub is billing the event as the longest track race In the Dominion and hopes to make It an annual event
One notable entry Is that of W. D. Baillie, whose great experience and proven ability over many distances label him as a possible winner. Another former Olympian, I. Keats, will also be a strong candidate for top honours.
