Bonuses amounting to s69ni have been added to M.L.C. life insurance policies for the year to December 31. The corresponding figure for 1967 was $61.4m.
Announcing this yesterday. Mr A. H. Braby, manager for New Zealand of The Mutual Life and Citizens' Assurance Company, Ltd, said that the rate of bonus for all classes of policy is the highest in the company’s long history, thus maintaining the record rate which has now been declared for seven consecutive years, i During 1968 M.L.C. wrote a record volume of new business insuring $472m, exclusive; of temporary insurances. This; trend is continuing and new business for the first three months of 1969 is well in excess of new business for the corresponding quarter in 1968. Mr Braby considers the favourable bonuses allocated in i recent years have made life insurance a more popular and | profitable investment than ever before. “In addition ’ there is the unique and basic
. protective feature of life in-; ■ surance. It is still the only I way a person can create an {instant estate—at the stroke i of a pen," he said.
