MAY DAY STRIKES
Newspapers Hit In U.K. (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) LONDON, April 29. Britain’s major newspapers will be shut down by a 24hour strike of printing workers beginning at 5 p.m. tomorrow. to protest against the Government’s plan to legislate against work stoppages. The strike, approved by the union’s executive lai* night, affects the London morning newspapers, which circulate nationally, and the two London evening papers. It is being co-ordinated with May Day strikes by other unions directed against the proposed bill.
